This intermediate-level course introduces students to the fundamental principles of remote sensing and imagery analysis, building upon foundational concepts and incorporating advanced techniques. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the electromagnetic spectrum, sensor systems, image acquisition, processing, and interpretation. The course will cover topics such as: image preprocessing, radiometric and geometric correction, image classification, object detection, change detection, and applications in various fields such as environmental monitoring, urban planning, and disaster management. Through practical exercises and case studies, students will develop hands-on experience in using geospatial software for analyzing remote sensing data and extracting valuable insights. This course aligns with the USGIS Ebk 3 standards for intermediate-level remote sensing and imagery analysis training.
