Part II is a look at the three regions that comprise the body’s trunk: the thorax, the abdomen, and the pelvis. Each of these regions has a framework made up of bones, muscles, and other soft tissues. These frameworks give the trunk its shape, and they also protect the delicate organs inside.
The internal organs and structures found in these regions work constantly to provide the rest of the body with oxygen and energy, and then they eliminate waste. In addition to explaining these different organs, this part talks about the anatomical features that make humans male or female.
