Ocean Studies – This course introduces students to the fundamentals of ocean science, exploring the physical, biological, and ecological aspects of the marine environment. Students will learn about ocean history, mapping techniques, ecosystems, and the diverse forms of life found within them. Topics include marine zones, microbes, aquatic vegetation, invertebrates, mollusks, crustaceans, fish, and marine reptiles. Lessons will also emphasize the importance of ocean resources and conservation in sustaining human and ecological health. By the end of the course, students will be able to describe key oceanographic concepts, identify important marine species, and explain the interdependence of ocean systems.
