Foundations of Playwriting – This course introduces students to the fundamentals of dramatic writing for the stage. Students explore the building blocks of plays, including theme, character, dialogue, and structure. They develop original ideas, learn how to craft compelling scenes, and write a first draft of a one-act play. Throughout the course, students engage with professional examples and workshop their writing with peers. Emphasis is placed on developing authentic voices and dramatic tension. The course prepares students for continued work in theatre, creative writing, or production.
