Raising Chickens Foundations – This course introduces students to the fundamentals of raising chickens, from understanding their biology and behavior to selecting the right breeds for various purposes. Students will learn how to purchase healthy chickens, choose appropriate housing types, and design and construct coops. The course also covers furnishing and maintaining coops, feeding practices, and controlling pests and predators to ensure flock safety. Lessons emphasize responsible animal care, sustainable farming methods, and the economic and environmental impacts of poultry production. By the end of the course, students will be able to establish and manage a healthy and productive flock while applying best practices for animal welfare and efficiency.
